Holy Trinity School students in Grades 6 to 8 raised their awareness of global hunger issues by participating in a Junior High "Hunger Banquet," organized and hosted by the school’s Service Club. The club, under the direction of Ms. Nancy Hecker, has been working for six weeks to educate themselves on the issues relating to world hunger: surplus vs. waste, the disparity of resources, and the circumstances that can catapult a family into extreme poverty. The scripted activity was based on Oxfam America's Hunger Banquet model. Oxfam is a global organization that works to raise awareness of the injustices of poverty and to seek solutions to poverty, hunger, and social injustice worldwide.
